I first joined Camco (then Energy for Sustainable Development), Kenya office in 2003 as a Projects assistant working on a national biomass energy project covering 24 districts in Kenya. After leaving in 2007 and working for the African Development Bank in Tunis, I re-joined Camco as a Senior Consultant in-charge of business development and projects management in April 2010. Our motivation at Camco is to provide tailor-made solutions to our clients spread across the private and public sector.

My professional focus and interest is the promotion of renewable energy in Africa. More recently (2010-11), I have led and assisted in the design of several national and regional renewable energy projects including a $US 34 million sustainable biomass energy project covering 6 countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia and Ethiopia), US$ 1.4 million renewable energy programme to address private sector barriers covering 3 countries (Kenya, South Africa and Mali) and $50 million programme to scale-up the use of renewable energy programs in low-income countries, among others. Working with the world-class team at Camco to design solutions to everyday national and global problems is the most rewarding part of my assignment.|

As a Senior Consultant with Camco’s North American Team, I focus on ensuring carbon credit generation from our clean energy projects and providing advisory services to clients in the agricultural and industrial sectors. On the credit generation side for example, I ensure that methane destruction activities on our dairy farms are managed properly to qualify for carbon credit generation. On the advisory side, I manage GHG emissions accounting projects for clients like ethanol producers looking to capitalize on low-carbon aspects of their value chain by qualifying for renewable fuel programs that incentivize low-emissions fuel use.

I attribute much of my growth to working with the best and the brightest experts in our field. In the three years since joining Camco, I have progressed from working on a variety of different projects and developing a spectrum of competencies to currently specializing in specific areas on which I chose to focus. Camco affords every team member with the flexibility to define our own path and the resources to accomplish our professional aspirations. Our shared mission and passion promote collaboration across Camco offices around the globe from the U.S. to Kuala Lumpur. The emissions reduction sector is a multidisciplinary field. Camco employs many different types of professionals from engineers to financial analysts to policy experts. I come from an engineering and economics background with a Masters in Environmental Engineering and Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a Masters in Oil and Gas Economics and Management from the Institut Français du Pétrole. I look forward to continued growth with Camco as we continue to deliver innovative clean energy solutions in the face of an ever-changing political, regulatory, and economic environment.

The experiences I have gained, working with Camco have not only enhanced and improved my legal expertise but have also given me the opportunity to widen my skills, which will be of benefit to my longer term career.

After working as a lawyer for law firms and a company in the fashion sector I joined Camco in December 2006 as the Commercial Officer. At that time the carbon business was still largely unknown to the majority of people in China. Now, four and a half years later, the carbon sector is recognized as a sector from which the whole world will benefit, and within the sector Camco is also well recognized as the leading company. I feel very happy to be one of the team members.

Together with the legal and commercial teams in London, I set up and maintain a stable legal and contractual basis for projects in China. Until the end of 2007, drafting, negotiating, revising and finalizing carbon related contracts were my main tasks. Starting in 2008 contract compliance related matters became part of my daily work along with monitoring the progress achieved by our projects. At the end of 2009, I started being involved in support provision for the commercialization of credits from China projects. By the end of 2010 I was appointed Commercial Director of our China team. I feel very fortunate, and it is also my great honour, to be granted opportunities and trust by the company. The experiences I have gained, working with Camco have not only enhanced and improved my legal expertise but have also given me the opportunity to widen my skills, which will be of benefit to my longer term career. I know I will continue to grow and learn more with Camco in the future.
